About Me

I have always made things and have a deep love of crafting, After graduating I worked as a Textile designer for Mothercare and Habitat, creating surface pattern. I have created design work for agencies in London,New York, Los Angeles,Tokyo and Florence, designing surface pattern for fabrics and objects. For the past 20 years I have been very fortunate and worked as a lecturer in all aspects Fashion & Textile design. Teaching for me is not just a job,it is a passion.I love to pass on skills, creating new experiences and connecting with people.I am proud to have witnessed the flourishing of many successful design careers. I always have sewing, knitting or more recently crochet projects on the go. This is an incredible exciting journey, being on this path and simply putting one foot in front of the other had lead to many creative experiences, each opportunity leading to the next. Ultimately allowing me to come full circle and create a business that incorporates my biggest passions design and sewing. Much of my work involves recycling of discarded or used materials. Making new and useful objects that make people happy from things you may have thrown away.

Little ideas,Trees and Snowflakes

Back in February, I had an amazing trip to New York. As well as soaking up the sites, I went armed with a list of materials for future craft projects.

I am a big fan of Martha Stewart, she has a range of craft materials and paper punches. At the time, these were hard to get hold of in the U.K
Little did I know when I arrived, that within 2 days of being in town, I was to end up in the audience of her daily home show.http://www.marthastewart.com/

Easy carve tree

One material I was very keen to get my hands on, was this easy carve rubber. It is a similar material as a pencil eraser and comes in large sheets.  It is very soft to carve and makes great printing blocks, much easier to use than traditional Lino.
Easy carve experiments
Easy carve can't be bought in uk. There is a product made by Speedball called speedy carve.
http://www.lawrence.co.uk/acatalog/Speedy_Stamp.html   It is ok but tends to crumble a
little, especially when fine carving  small areas.

Versa craft  printing ink pad can be used on Fabric or paper.

I had bought these Versa Craft printing blocks last
Christmas.http://www.bladerubberstamps.co.uk/site/fabrico.php
I have 6 of them in a variety of colours.
Can be fixed to use on fabric

I used them last year to make these cards.

Muji snowflake stamps
I also have these lovelies, bought in Muji. They have a very fine quality and print beautifully.
So this year I have been experimenting with combining the Snowflakes with the tree block.

Printed onto brown paper

Repeated on fabric
Not too sure how I will use it yet
Another colour way on paper
This was just a quick print to try another colour way. Further experiments on the way...
